.NET IL

.NET Intermediate Language (IL), formerly known as MSIL (Microsoft Intermediate Language) or CIL (Common Intermediate Language), is the low-level programming language used by the .NET Framework. IL is a CPU-independent set of instructions that can be executed by the .NET runtime environment. When a .NET program is compiled, it is converted into IL, which is then JIT-compiled to native code by the .NET runtime upon execution.
